Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a dry ingredients bowl. Beat egg and mix with milk. Melt butter and add to liquid ingredients bowl. Combine wet ingredients with dry ingredients, using a whisk. Make sure there are no lumps left.
Heat a skillet, melt a small amount of butter and pour in a small amount of batter to make a test pancake. When the mixture bubbles, flip the pancake. Repeat, using 1/4 cup portions for each pancake.
